Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant | Sport Field Energy Effcient Lighting

The Sport Field Energy Efficient Lighting project is one of eleven projects in Orange County being funded by the Department of Energy through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG). This project entails upgrading current fixtures to energy efficient technology. Existing poles and electrical infrastructure will be used. The efficiency of the lighting technology provides the additional benefit of fewer lamp changes required to maintain light levels resulting in less hazardous waste disposal. This upgrade also significantly benefits the community at large by reducing the off-site spill and glare and sky glow by an estimated 50%. The upgrade also includes controls to manage the lights. Keys will no longer be given to users. The site will be managed through a web based scheduling system that will also save energy based on scheduled on/off cycles.
